About me

I’m Natalie.

I’ve never fit neatly into a single box. Maybe that’s exactly the thread running through my path. Art, books, technology, and sharing knowledge can look like separate worlds at first glance. For me, they’ve long belonged together.

I never believed in one perfect path through life anyway. What drives me is curiosity, new chapters, and the question of what can happen when you take what you’ve learned and make something of your own. Instead of just talking about ideas for a long time, I’ve always preferred to try them out. That’s how curiosity turned into art, books, and new projects, and eventually into a path I never would have planned this way myself.

What makes me who I am

Four roles and my why

Artist

In 2018, I discovered the work of Australian Resin Artists and was fascinated by the material right away. I started experimenting, back then with products that were barely suited to Resin Art. I posted my first resin coaster on Instagram. What began as curious experimenting became a permanent part of my life over time.

WhyAfter my second child was born, I quickly realized that I wanted to create something of my own, even on parental leave. So I started over once more, without knowing where this path would one day lead me.

Engineer

I’m an industrial engineer and studied at Westfälische Hochschule in Gelsenkirchen. After that, my path led me into real estate: from property management to site management in apartment renovation to real estate appraisal.

WhyI became a mother in the middle of my studies. Suddenly, all that learning had a very personal goal. And even though my career later took very different turns, a lot has stayed with me: thinking analytically, seeing connections, breaking problems down, and turning an idea into a plan.

Trainer

I’m a certified trainer under Germany’s AEVO (IHK Dortmund). Among other programs, I’m qualified to train apprentices in marketing communications, e-commerce, industrial business management, and office management. I’ve worked in marketing since 2018, especially in social media. In 2024, I also completed further training in social media marketing at the IHK Dortmund.

WhySecretly, I always wanted to be a teacher. That never happened. But to this day, I love explaining difficult topics in a way people can understand.

Author

My book Safe Resin Art came out in German in 2025, and the English and Spanish editions follow in 2026. In it, more than 25 Resin Artists and woodworkers share their experience, together with what really matters when you work safely with epoxy resin.

WhyI know people who can no longer work with epoxy resin after developing a contact allergy. At the same time, I keep seeing people work without gloves, without enough ventilation, and, where it’s needed, without a proper respirator. Usually not out of carelessness, but because the risks were underestimated or never properly explained. That’s exactly why I wrote this book. Not to make anyone afraid of epoxy resin, but to make knowledge accessible. Because only when you understand what you’re working with can you decide consciously how to handle it. To me, that’s freedom through knowledge.

Where I come from

From Central Asia to Germany

I was born in 1987 in Solovyovo, a small village in the southern Altai Mountains of eastern Kazakhstan. It sits at about 1,590 feet (485 m), roughly 9 miles (14 km) south of the town of Altai, formerly Zyryanovsk. From there, the Chinese border is only about 190 to 220 miles (300 to 350 km) away as the crow flies. At 16, I came to Germany with my family.

At my high school in Kazakhstan, I was a straight-A student. At the school office in Dortmund, it took less than ten minutes to decide: Hauptschule, the lowest track. After all, I didn’t speak German. Formally, they were right. But they didn’t know what makes me tick: the less someone believes in me, the more ambition I develop.

That ambition is what carried me forward. Please don’t ask me how I earned my Fachabitur, a German college entrance qualification, without speaking fluent German. Then came my engineering degree, and these days I sometimes wonder how I managed it without ChatGPT.

Today I live in Dortmund with my husband, our two children, and our Belgian Shepherd mix.

Freedom through knowledge

Create boldly.
Decide wisely.

Epoxy resin opens up an incredible range of creative possibilities. But if you work with it, you should also know what you’re working with. In Safe Resin Art, you’ll find clear explanations, practical safety information, and real experience from the Resin Art studio. You can download the most important checklists from the book for free.
